An iSeries-based bespoke online order entry system, allowing customers to browse products, place orders, track orders, view order history and see special offers.
BAKO has an established iSeries infrastructure that handles all aspects of product ordering, storage and delivery, including automated re-ordering and voice picking systems in their warehousing. To support their current extended hours telephone ordering system, BAKO realised the need to provide an online order facility to their customers.
BAKO considered a number of options including external shopping basket systems, but recognised the value of having the online order system driven directly from their iSeries infrastructure.
With the DMS project completed and BAKO now confident of allowing browser to access their systems, they proceeded quickly to online Order Entry.
Merisis was asked to provide the online ordering system, using our product FreeStyle to develop a web application so that pricing, stock levels and ordering were all being handled via their central iSeries machine.
